Also known as sugar milk, it is a disaccharide formed by the union of one
molecule of glucose and one of galactose.
Properties of lactose:
- Excellent for use as an excipient in drugs.
- It is very soluble and has an attractive flavor to be used in tablets.
- It has a stimulating effect on the absorption of calcium and other minerals
from milk.
